As always, Honda has always proven to be more than just a maker of fuel-efficient new Honda vehicles. Constantly leading the way in environmental sustainability across the board from product to production techniques, and it shows. Honda, like every year, brings a comprehensive report detailing exactly what has been done in the realm of green initiatives and Tom Scott Honda has scooped up some of the most impressive accomplishments from this year's recently revealed list.
To begin, let's talk specifically about Honda
automobiles. Since the report went out last year, our favorite automotive brand
has increased the total fleet-average fuel-economy of all models by
3.2-percent.
Next, as far as manufacturing is
concerned for Honda, the company has shown nice improvement in many areas.
First off, waste that goes from manufacturing operations into landfills has
been lowered by 57-percent from a year ago and more than 90-percent from 2011.
Honda also managed to decrease carbon dioxide emissions from the production of
vehicles by 2-percent.
Of
the brands dedicated efforts, Tetsuo Iwamura, Chief Operating Officer of Honda
North America, explains, "At Honda, we have made the issues of greenhouse gas
emissions and energy sustainability central pillars of our effort to create new
value for our customers and society. This effort extends beyond our products to
include all aspects of Honda business operations in the region, including the
factories that build our cars, and the operations that support them in the
marketplace."1
The
future looks bright for Honday, they plan to sets a new goal of reducing
emission from all in-use vehicles, motorcycles and equipment by a whopping
