We all strive to stay cold-free during
the winter months. One way to do that is by keeping your vehicle clean. Here at
Tom Scott Honda, we read a study from the University of
Michigan that identified all the bacterial hot-spots in all vehicles, and we'd
like to share them with you to help you stay healthy throughout the
year.
We wouldn't say that the study had some
shocking surprises, because it's all based on common sense. The places that you
touch and interact with the most while driving are the most common areas for
microbes. That includes the steering wheel, shifter, side-door buttons, cup
holders, and others buttons like radio dials.
Our advice? It's simple: keep your
vehicle clean. That means regular use of anti-bacterial wipes on these areas
and more. Also, it's not just the places we touch either. Think about all the
dirt, mud, snow, and other potential grime we might track into our vehicles.
You should consider vacuuming the interior, particularly your seats and around
the floor routinely. Exterior car washes in winter aren't a bad idea either, as
they can keep bacteria off the outside, but more importantly, help prevent under-body damage to the car.
In the future, automakers hope to limit
the amount of microbes we can find in our vehicles. Some are testing out Agion
technology, which creates antimicrobial surfaces that limits the amount of
bacteria on surfaces. Applying this to car interiors would certainly be a
welcome change going forward.
Still, we hope everyone keeps our tips in
mind and regularly clean out the inside of their cars, trucks or SUVs. If you'd
like to learn more, or want to check out our wide range of used cars, stop
in to Tom Scott Honda today. We're always happy to answer
any questions you might have, and can set up a test drive at your
convenience.
