Of all the things new Honda models are known for, efficiency is definitely near the top of the list. From hybrid models like the Civic Hybrid to alternative fuel vehicles like the fuel-cell FCX Clarity, there's plenty of reasons to go with our favorite Japanese automaker.
And now that TrueCar has come out with a study to prove our point, we're all the more confident. Not only in Honda's ability to keep you far from the pumps, but also in the automotive industry in general. July was the fourth month in a row where national fleet fuel economy has been on the rise.
Americans have increased fuel efficiency by 0.7 percent from June to July. Better still, the vehicles themselves have improved the fuel economy average by 1.6 miles per gallon since July of 2012. The record for highest fuel economy was even set this year, at an average of 24.5 miles per gallon, back in January.
So in the list of who is contributing the most to the steady rise in fuel economy, where does Honda sit? Well, according to the report, it's squarely in third place thanks to the super efficiency of the four-cylinder engines found in select models. Nicely done, everyone!
