Hydrogen power is serious business--at least, where Honda is concerned. They've been working on research and development into the tech for more than thirty years, and where barriers still remain, that hasn't stopped them from leasing an H2-powered model since 2008. Now, the next generation version of that car has bowed.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Clarity. While it's no doubt a futuristic and handsome looker, the real meat and potatoes is the hydrogen fuel cell under the hood. It clocks in about the size of a V6 engine and produces 175 horsepower, and allows the car to go 300 miles on one single fill up.
However, there are still a few hurdles Honda must cross before this car can see widespread release. The main one is the availability of hydrogen refueling stations, which virtually don't exist outside of California. Fortunately, the Department of Energy is on that, and hopes to have more by the end of the decade.
Will we see this car in our Nampa, ID locale soon? We hope so! In the meantime, we have plenty of other new Honda models on our lot that will also delight you to no end. Contact us today to meet one!
