The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid uses a two-motor hybrid powertrain. This unique two-motor configuration eliminates the need for a conventional mechanical transmission, and provides class-leading horsepower and fuel economy.
Based on driving conditions and battery charge, the 2017 Accord Hybrid transitions seamlessly between three driving modes:
- EV Drive -- The engine rests, while the compact lithium-ion battery powers the propulsion motor, which drives the front wheels.
- Hybrid Drive -- The 2.0-liter i-VTEC Atkinson Cycle gasoline engine powers the motor-generator, which sends additional energy to the propulsion motor.
- Engine Drive -- The engine connects to the propulsion motor, and the front wheels are driven by the engine and the motor in tandem, for maximum power.
The motors and engine produce a total combined 212 horsepower for a swift driving experience with strong acceleration.
The 2017 Accord Hybrid's three trims -- Hybrid, Hybrid EX-L, and Hybrid Touring -- all come with Honda Sensing™ as a standard feature, and are due to join our new inventory this spring.
