Can you remember the last time you changed your car's battery? It may be time to test its strength if you've had the vehicle for a few years without a replacement. Here at Tom Scott Honda, we want to make tasks like this as easy as they can be. That's why we've compiled some tips to help you test your car's battery at home.
You'll want to first do what's known as a "load test." This simple procedure involves turning your vehicle's headlights on for about 10 or 15 minutes. Don't start the engine until this time is up. When you start the car, take note of your headlights. If they dim significantly, this indicates you probably need a new battery.
You can also just listen when you start the car. If it makes a clicking sound multiple times at startup, your battery is probably on its last legs. Just one click indicates a problem with the starter.
